Do you even feel the move is warranted? Because my understanding is source code was leaked from a private repo, which is 🤷‍♂️ you lose the value of obscurity but also with scrutiny comes the reward of knowing there are no glaringly obvious 0-days. Perfect!Īnd for what it's worth, Lastpass might feel like a shitty company, but they're just trying to keep users from running away, they have an obligation to try to save their business. manage passwords? Yes? Will billing try to huskow you? No. I've seen them all, and KeePass, while not as granular, is all you need. Don't even have to worry about data privacy laws (which it is hilarious that people think will protect their leaked data). KeePass is the best answer everything above is a lateral transition. I believe they are at (or at least close) to parity.Īnd as a user myself, I really noticed the deficiencies of BW form filling so I accept it fully when my users have said the same. I don't do fruit so I can't say how good their Mac and ios apps are but they do have them.

On Win desktop and on Android at least I can vouch. RF has reached a point where they do form filling pretty damned well and easy.

Make the thing that DOES make passwords EASY for them THAT'S your hook! That they get better password security, etc., that's just the gravy. They often don't see their posture as lacking and so don't see a strong need to change it.īut tell them I have a thing that makes dealing with your handful of passwords EASIER. They often "don't see the big deal", etc. If you want ppl (end users) to adopt a password manager, start with the one tangible "carrot" you can dangle in front of them: CONVENIENCE.End users dgaf about security like we do. It works well enough and Idt they intend to improve it much anytime soon was the impression I got. RDP sessions, log in to QB (desktop), our Mikrotik gear, and a few other things make up a fair percentage of my week.īased on some commentary (their uservoice forum maybe? idr) it seemed to not be a priority for BW devs either. What I absolutely remember is that I was copy/pasting credentials a heck of a lot more than I ever had to before with RF and it was irritating af.Īlso, I don't remember if BW filled local (.exe) apps too, which I use RF quite a bit for.

I'd have to go back and check (probably have to reinstall BW tbh) to answer precisely. New Me now wants to revert to Long Ago Me, who distrusted everyone, and kept a handwritten password list. Bitwarden seals your sensitive information with end-to-end AES-256 bit encryption, salted hashing, and PBKDF2 SHA-256.", ). Even the Bitwarden team cannot unlock your protected data. But rewind to June, and very few of us knew that, or even suspected it.īitwarden makes similar claims (" With Bitwarden, all of your data is fully encrypted before it ever leaves your device, and only you have access to managing it. We now know that they don't encrypt some data that many of us regard as "sensitive". LastPass never explicitly claimed to encrypt everything, but they strongly encouraged us to believe they did (" LastPass is designed to keep sensitive data safe using a local-only, zero knowledge security model.", ). They respond with saying "Go ahead cancel then because we only do yearly subscriptions". So I essentially tell them that in that case I will have to cancel because I don't want to commit for a year Meaning I will still be committed for a year even if I pay monthly. Then they proceed to tell me that they dont have a monthly subscription, only monthly billing. So on hold for their billing support for 1H because you cant cancel auto subscription on your own, you have to call them.

Our Yearly subscription renews at the start of February and so we decided we want to switch to a monthly payment play in order to not commit to a full year. But before we decide fully we want to do some evaluating on LastPass. We're a medium sized MSP (250 employees) and we're currently using LastPass and in the light of what happened we're really unsure of what service to continue with, and currently leaning towards not continuing with LastPass.
